Papua New Guinea is the most linguistically diverse area of the globe.
Knowing that Jesus commissioned believers to disciple every language group, we focus our efforts on this one area in Papua New Guinea which includes 73 people groups, 49 of which are still unreached.
Individual languages are found in clusters of related languages. Learn about the needs of each of the languages in the Finisterre Mountains by browsing the interactive map below. Could God be calling you to make a difference by going?
A word of thanks
The work of making the Scriptures clear to the people of the Finisterre Mountains began long before Finisterre Vision sent its first team in 2015. The few drops in the bucket that we have contributed are immersed in decades of service, and dozens of completed translations of the New Testament by SIL-PNG.
Much of our understanding of this area comes from survey reports and interviews with SIL missionaries. We are greatly indebted to the cooperative spirit that permeates the SIL corporate culture. With much gratitude to SIL-PNG for their long history in PNG, and continuing efforts in the Finisterre Mountains, we present this interactive map showing the discipleship, translation, and literacy needs of this area.
