Just a quick post to let you all know that we’ve arrived safely in Mawerero. All our systems are up and running. We are mostly unpacked and getting ready to jump back into formal language learning next week (though we are already practicing our rusty nDo on a daily basis).

The Canns are home:

GoPro footage of our take-off from Madang Airport and our landing in Mawerero. Besides coming for a visit, this is perhaps the best way to get a feel for how remote we live:

We received a warm welcome from our friends in Mawerero. Cassidy was by far the most popular. She has really developed some great relationships with the ladies here:

Jude, Oliver, and I took a trip to the waterfall on our first day back:

FYI – Google Earth is getting better and better images of our area. Though we cannot zoom in to see our houses yet, here is an impressive 3D view of our ridge looking toward to ocean. The arrow is pointing to a small brown stain… that’s as clear an image as satellites get of us for now. The ocean is a good 14 miles away as the crow flies, but we can still catch glimpses of the sea from our ridge on a clear day.
